looking, watching, thinking

Looking at the Sugar Story this week, led to reading that South Florida's being voraciously polluted by the Sugar Industry, apparently -- (some kind of "algae bloom" issue -- so we won't run out of Things To Worry About)...and then

watching a documentary film about folksinger Pete Seeger, there was a vignette in there about the Clearwater Project which Mr. Seeger organized to clean up the Hudson River.  (People said it would never work; it worked.  [Some days we have to make a long-story-short, here]...)

And so was thinking --  maybe someone can organize a clean-up project in Florida.  I don't know -- y' start with a boat and some banjo players...

Well you got to walk -- that lonesome valley
You got to walk -- it by yourself
Nobody else -- can walk it for you
You got to walk -- it by yourself

Now mother walked that lonesome valley
She had to walk it by herself
'Cause nobody else could walk it for her
She had to walk it by herself

Now father walked that lonesome valley
He had to walk it by himself
Nobody else could walk it for him
He had to walk it by himself

Now John they say, he was a Baptist
While others say -- he was a Jew
But the Holy Bible plainly tells you
Oh that he was -- a preacher, too

Yeah you got to walk -- that lonesome valley
You got to walk it by yourself
Ain't nobody else gonna go there for you
You got to go there by yourself

Yeah we got to walk that lonesome valley
We got to walk it by ourselves
'Cause nobody else can walk it for us
We got to walk it by ourselves

Yeah we got to walk that lonesome valley
We got to walk it by ourselves
Nobody else can walk it for us
We got to walk it by ourselves
Yeah we got to walk it by ourselves

{"Lonesome Valley," -- traditional American folk song}
