...the music won't ever stop...
Well I'm-a write a little letter
Gonna mail it to my local D.J.
Yeah it's a jumpin' little record
I want my jockey to play
Roll over Beethoven, and
I gotta hear it again today!
You know my temperature's risin'
The jukebox's blowin' a fuse
My heart beatin' rhythm
And my soul keeps a-singin' the blues
Roll over Beethoven
And tell Tchaikovsky the news
I got the rockin' pneumonia,
I need a shot of rhythm and blues
I caught the rollin' arthritis
Sittin' down at a rhythm review --
Roll over Beethoven
They're rockin' in two by two!
Well if you feel it and like it,
Go get your lover and reel and rock it,
Roll it over then move on up, yeah --
Try for further then
Reel and rock with -- one another --
Roll over Beethoven,
Dig these rhythm and blues!
Well early in the mornin'
I'm givin' you my warning' --
Don't you step on my blue suede shoes
Hey! - diddle-diddle, I'm playin' my fiddle,
I ain't got nothin' to lose --
Roll over Beethoven,
And tell Tchaikovsky the news
You know she wiggles like a glow worm,
Dance like a spinnin' top
She got a crazy partner
You oughta see 'em reel an' rock
As long as she got a dime,
The music won't ever stop!
Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven,
And dig these rhythm and blues!

"Roll Over Beethoven"
Chuck Berry
May, 1956

Listen to this song on You Tube, Chuck Berry's recordings, and also the cover version by Jerry Lee Lewis and Linda Gail Lewis is wildly energetic and a freewheeling interpretation. I found this in a radio station production room decades ago, and put it on a turntable in there, and listened to it. I felt like I had found treasure.
Hadn't ever heard of "Linda Gail Lewis" before the day when I found that record album. Her phrasing style is similar to that of Tina Turner -- cutting in just a little ahead of the beat, upping the song's rocking drive. ...
