rum lightning
The lightning is different from how it used to be. It's brighter, and cuts a clearer streak in the gray-clouded sky.
It doesn't light up the whole sky like backlighting on a stage play anymore: it flashes and dances with very specific jags and edges and sometimes blinks like over-amped neon.
Very weird. (Or, as Bridget Jones would write in her Diary: "V. weird."
This lightning jumps out at us from behind a cloud, and disappears. It scampers at -- well -- lightning speed, if you will....
