I can remember playing "Can't Buy Me Love" on the jukebox at a bar named Daisy Buchanan's, in Boston.
The reason I got a group of friends from school to go with me to that particular establishment was because it was named after a character in The Great Gatsby.
The reason I selected "Can't Buy Me Love" was because I wanted to hear Beatles songs -- I felt like I knew of the Beatles -- John, Paul, George, and Ringo -- but I didn't really know their music.
Sometimes when I hear a Beatles song, I think I don't know it and then when it plays it sounds familiar, and I don't know if I've actually heard it before, or if it's just that their melodies make so much sense, that even if you're hearing the song for the first time, you still feel like you know where the notes are going next....
It's been a hard day's night,
And I've been working -- like a dog
It's been a hard day's night,
I should be sleeping -- like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel all right
You know I work all day
To get you money, to buy you things
And it's worth it just to hear you say,
You're going to give me everything
So why on earth should I moan,
Cos when I get you alone
You know I feel O-K
When I'm home --
Everything seems to be right
When I'm home --
Feeling you holding me tight, tight, yeah
It's been a hard day's night,
And I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night,
I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel all right --- oowww!
So why on earth should I moan,
Cos when I get you alone
You know I feel OK
When I'm home --
Everything seems to be right
When I'm home --
Feeling you holding me tight -- tight -- yeah!
It's been a hard day's night,
And I've been working -- like a dog
It's been a hard day's night,
I should be sleeping -- like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel all -- right
You know I feel all right
You know I feel all right
