 A You Tuber I listen to sometimes will sometimes say the phrase, "...but I digress..."

        It's where - you are talking about something - telling someone something - and then what you are saying leads you to another thought or observation, and you go along that path, because it seems to be worth mentioning, and then you realize you want to get back to the original topic and make your point, so you end the path-following part by saying, "...but - I digress..." 

        And then you resume talking about the original subject.

I noticed that, and I also noticed that she will sometimes mention the '80s-early '90s situation comedy The Golden Girls.  I guess she grew up watching that show.  I have been playing episodes of that lately and I noticed that "Sophia" (portrayed by Estelle Getty) says "but I digress" at times, and I thought, OK, the You Tuber picked up that phrase from the show. ...
