edit a la mode
WAITRESS: What can I get you?
HARRY: I'll have the Number Three.
The waitress turns to Sally.
SALLY: I'd like the apple pie a la mode.
WAITRESS (writing): Apple a la mode.
SALLY: But I'd like the pie heated, and I don't want the ice cream on the top, I want it on the side. And I'd like strawberry instead of vanilla if you have it. If not, then no ice cream, just whipped cream, but only if it's real. If it's out of a can, then nothing.
WAITRESS: Not even the pie?
SALLY: No, just the pie. But then not heated.

When Harry Met Sally... is a film, along with Body Heat
wherein, if they gave it to me after they were done editing and asked for "my notes" (they say it that way in the movie business), I would have no "Notes" -- would not, could not, change a thing.
There are other movies where, they're supposed to be really good -- and they are really good -- but there are a few, very few, moments in them where, after their editing was done, if they showed me the film as it was released, before it was released, I would have changed a couple of things. I would have -- had some notes. ...
