upon every remembrance of you

Two ideas come to me about human beings and Life:

What people need, more than anything else, more than -- money; love; respect, or any of the other things we think we need and want, what people Most Need, and Need Most, is

Something To Do.

And the other thing is:  most of the trouble, problems, and rottenness caused in the World are the product of some random person or group, flailing wildly, desperately attacking/pursuing the Empirically Impossible Goal -- the emotionally-immature fallacy -- of --

Finally, At Long Last, Being "Better-Than" -- somebody.

(Wull-I'm at least better'n those people...)

I guess that impulse is part of human nature, but -- as Katharine Hepburn tells Humphrey Bogart in The African Queen, "Nature...is what we are put in this world to rise above."
