In videos and articles about Dolly Parton's life, a story is told where Elvis Presley wanted to record "I Will Always Love You" but when his manager, "Colonel" Tom Parker met with Dolly, he said, Well the way it always is: any song Elvis records, he has to have the publishing rights to it.
Dolly was happy that Elvis wanted to record her song, and she was enthusiastic about the idea, but when the ol' colonel tried to scam her like that, she had to say No.
