you were only waiting for this moment

The 2018 Guardian article reprinted here yesterday had some interesting Reader Comments:

^  Whether this can be categorized as a "men's" or "women's" issue is missing one important point; the devastating impact on children's mental health.

Growing up in a household where one partner or both engage in a never ceasing battle for dominance leaves a child with severe feelings of insecurity and self-doubt, and whether violence is experienced or not, the behaviors that are learned create a generational propagation of antisocial behavior.

The fact is that it's society's issue.

It would help if men in positions of power (I'm thinking of a certain orange idiot) didn't make absolutely disgusting remarks about abusing women, get caught out, have it dismissed as "locker-room talk" and keep their positions of power.

^  And men like him get huge numbers of votes from women.

^  I know - and it beggars belief.
But he gets way more votes from men

Every individual case of domestic abuse and violence has unique factors, but when the prevalence of this plague is as high as it is across society and all socio-economic classes, then evidently the disease is cultural.

Abusers are themselves broken people...not the intended working model.  Worse still, their dysfunction is of the type that creates new abusers and fresh victims.  It's a wildfire.

We must address the overarching issue of why our society as a whole is failing to nurture its own, from childhood through to a healthy and balanced adulthood.
