a dangerous man

Bah -- ahm, bom,
b-b-b-b- bah-ahm, bom...

Mustang Sally!

Think you better slow your Mustang down.

Mustang Sally now baby -- Think you better slow your Mustang down.

You been running all over the town now.

Oowww!! I guess I'll have to put your flat feet on the ground.

All you want to do is ride around, Sally -- ride, Sally, ride.

All you want to do is ride around, Sally -- ride, Sally, ride.
All you want to do is ride around, Sally -- ride, Sally, ride....

Other people have sung "Mustang Sally"

and Wilson Pickett has sung other songs;

however,

Pickett's vocals on this song

make an iconic music moment.

Wilson Pickett's voice is big and wide -- with velvet and gravel and grit -- sunshine, excitement, determination, and stealth in it.

He is the vocalist who can "scream on key."

Hearing him sing "Mustang Sally" puts me in mind, atmospherically, of the movie Body Heat

-- something is afoot here...something is creeping, something is planning and re-planning, something is sneaking, peeking, desiring, arranging, trying, tricking, failing, smoothing things over,
something's --

slipping....  (Is everything on the up and up?...)

...I bought you a brand new Mustang --

'Bout nineteen sixty-five --

Now you come around signifying a woman,
You don't wanna let me ride,
Mustang Sally -- think you better slow your Mustang down....

Wilson Pickett, Minneapolis, 1970

Muscle Shoals is the largest city in Colbert County, Alabama.

Its population is 13,000.

Since the 1960s the city has been famous for the "Muscle Shoals Sound," as local recording studios produced hit records which were influential in popular music.  Both the city and the Florence-Muscle Shoals Metropolitan Area are commonly called "the Shoals."

----------------------------

Watching the dvd titled Muscle Shoals (2013, director - Greg 'Freddy' Camalier), we learn that Wilson Pickett made several unique and powerful hit records there.

In the movie, Rick Hall, owner of FAME Studios, says when he met Pickett the first time at the airport, "...he looked, to me, to be -- a dangerous man...."

"Come-ohwn, Wilson," he told him -- "we gon' make some records..."

--------------- On a Computer, type in

Wilson Pickett, Mustang Sally

and play it on You Tube (prepare to "moonwalk").
