places like Norway

"alarmed and mystified" --

Is that similar to "dazed and confused"?

The New York Times today published an article headlined, "Trump Alarms Lawmakers With Disparaging Words for Haiti and Africa"

> > > > > > >  President Trump demanded to know at a White House meeting why he should accept immigrants from Haiti and African countries rather than people from places like Norway.

------------------------- (the part about the members of Congress being "alarmed" also makes us think of Beyonce's song, "Ring The Alarm" --

People told me 'bout the flames
I couldn't see through the smoke...

This is taking a toll, the way the story unfolds
Not the picture perfect movie everyone would've saw...

Ring the alarm
I been through this too long...)

Every time I think this moronic, despicable excuse for a president has hit rock bottom, he takes a shovel and starts digging.

Would you want this President of the United States as your city council person; your school board member; your Walmart store manager; your school principal; or your mayor...and on and on.  No - who would.

And hell no.

Common decency precedes all talk of policy and agenda and argument.  Mr. President have you no decency?

Trump's statement is vulgar and revolting.

It signals a new level, and perhaps a new probe -- testing the waters for Nazi-like dialogue.

His deepening rot of the body politic cannot be allowed to stand unchallenged.  This statement and the GOP's response will be the GOP's crucial test of their own right and privilege to be a viable party in a democratic society that holds civility as a fundamental virtue.

If the GOP leaders ignore this, or just roll their eyes in response ... then American society and the world will know just what they have become.  Let us see and hear what they do and say...

As the daughter of an immigrant I'm deeply offended by Trump's rude remarks.  My father and his family had nothing and their country of origin was destroyed by war.  Yet, when they arrived in this country, they all threw themselves into working hard.

His entire family made sacrifices so my father could go to college and then medical school.

Immigrants are the hardest working people.

They take nothing for granted.

Their dedication and determination are what make this country great.

The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,

With conquering limbs astride from land to land;

Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand

A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame

Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles.  From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

"Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips.  "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

(Emma Lazarus
November 2, 1883)
