"Betsy DeVos for U.S. Secretary of Education"
------------------------- Checking confirmation hearing highlights for this cabinet appointment, I noted something unexpected -- the appointee herself does not seem to be a very good advertisement  for the results of private schooling.

(She advocates public funding for private schools.)

Washington Post Reader Comment:
"The thing that made the 'Greatest Generation' was public schools.  The thing that made America Great was public schools.  Undermining Public Schools undermines the American Dream.

The most important thing to do, if you want autocratic rule, is to destroy the knowledge of the masses [of people].  The best way to do that is to keep them uneducated.  This is a major cog in the machine."

Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education?  Really?

To lead our K-12 public schools, the choice is someone who (apparently) has very limited knowledge of and no experience or affiliation with public education except to oppose it?

What next?

Tobacco Company CEO as Surgeon General?
Logging Company CEO as Secretary of the Interior?

We are truly through the looking glass in an alternate reality filled with "alternative facts."
